Performance

Dan White has been performing music professionally since the age of 17, and holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He has appeared on-stage and in-studio with Motor City music royalty and has performed with dozens of artists, bands, and ensembles of all genres. He spent over a decade on tenor saxophone with perennial favorite R&B band Regular Boys and also played with the Sun Messengers, Blues Insurgents, Millionaires, Motown legends Martha Reeves and Mary Wells, jazz great J.C. Heard, rock icon Mitch Ryder, and award-winning singer/songwriter Stewart Franke. After stepping away from performing in 2000 to focus on directing the Grosse Pointe South High School Bands, Dan returned to the stage in 2016 as founder and leader of Eastside Jazz Quartet. Retirement from teaching and a position at the renowned Interlochen Arts Academy led Dan to Traverse City three years later. He has enjoyed playing with some of northern Michigan's most acclaimed musicians and ensembles including the Ron Getz and Greg Vadnais Jazz Quartets, Owen James, Harvey Wallbangers, Cool Porter, Stonefolk, and others. In 2021, Dan created chillsonic - a solo act featuring lo-fi beats with sax and ewi (electronic wind instrument). He also leads the Dan White Quartet - northeast Michigan's most dynamic jazz ensemble. Enjoy the perfect musical compliment for your venue or event with professionalism, versatility, and a chill vibe. Contact today for booking info!
